Already in the Stone Age, hunters and gatherers noticed that the effortless progress in the deep snow of winter time is only possible successfully with snowshoes. Since the mid-1990 years, this form of walking has become a new trend sport and an alternative to classic ski tours.

Walking with snowshoes through the deep snow and looking at the winter world with different eyes is a special nature experience for young and old. If you can walk you can also go snowshoe hiking. We offer the snowshoe hike on Wednesday afternoons. The minimum number of participants is 4 people, please register the day before until 5.00pm.

Some equipment is necessary: Hiking shoes or winter boots, walking poles and snowshoes.

You can get the snowshoes at our ski school office before you start. Here in Gurgl you can be close to nature and enjoy the fresh mountain air of the Oetztal Alps. With this winter sport you can get off the busy tracks and can discover the Alps from different point of view. It is the touring paradise. Untouched, deeply snow-covered mountains in the middle of the Oetztal Alps, which promise a fantastic experience at first glance. We start at a very high altitude in Gurgl already, where summits and their stunning landscape is so close.

Our mountain guides know the area in the Oetztal Alps very well and will show you the most beautiful and impressive tours. If you have never done a ski tour before, you can fully rely on our mountain guides. If you once tried out ski touring you will be longing for more! We know one thing for sure, whoever has gone the way once wants to go on ski touring in Gurgl again and again. Please remember, safety always comes first.

Group lesson on Thursdays, meeting time is 8:55am at the ski school office Kuraten. 
Equipment can be rented in sport shops for a fee (touring skis, boots and skins).
Safety equipment (transceiver, shovel and probe) is included in the price.

A whole body work out, which is fun

Relaxing at the highest level is guaranteed, despite the efforts of cross country skiing. 12 kilometres of cross-country trails in Gurgl offer a big playground. Cross country skiing is a sport, which strengthens the whole body movement.

Every muscle is trained during cross country skiing and above all the condition is continuously increased. This sport, which has its origin in Scandinavia, also enjoys great popularity in Austria. You will also find the best conditions for this in the Oetzal Valley. Once you have experienced the movements of cross-country skiing, this sport is a lot of fun.
